A Strategy Session for Academic Success

Magnifying glass and glasses over academic performance charts and graphs, representing a Peak Mind SA strategy session.

Choosing a mentor is a significant step in a student’s academic journey. We believe that for true learning to take place, a student needs to feel comfortable with the person guiding them. That is why we offer a free, no-obligation consultation where the student meets their actual tutor before any lessons begin.

This session is not a formal assessment or a test; it is a casual conversation designed to ensure that when the first lesson starts, the student already feels like they are working with a teammate.

How the Consultation Works

1. Meet Your Tutor

The student will meet the specific specialist they will be working with—whether their focus is Mathematics and Physical Science or English and ADHD Coaching. This allows the student to get to know their tutor’s personality and approach, ensuring the first actual lesson is productive and stress-free from the very first minute.

2. Identifying Challenges & Goals

We discuss the student’s current experience with their subjects. We look beyond the grades to find the “pain points” where they currently feel stuck or overwhelmed. Together, we identify:

  • The foundational concepts that may have been missed in a traditional classroom setting.
  • Specific goals for the upcoming term or matric exams.
  • The gap between their current results and their full potential.

3. Tailored Support & ADHD Coaching

For students seeking support with focus and organisation, our coaching specialists use this time to understand their specific cognitive needs. We explore current study habits and triggers, ensuring our approach is tailored to how the student’s mind actually works.

4. The Logical Roadmap

Finally, we outline our plan. We explain how we move away from rote memorisation and apply foundational logic to the CAPS, IEB, or Cambridge curriculum. You will leave the session with a clear understanding of the specific strategy we will use to build your child’s academic confidence.

Who Should Attend?

To get the most out of this session, we highly encourage both the student and at least one parent to participate. This ensures everyone is aligned on the goals and the roadmap we create together.
